Rapid Action Battalion-4 has been conducting a raid at Gonoshastha Kendra Hospital in Savar, on the outskirts of Dhaka since this afternoon based on information of “anomalies in its treatment process”.

A mobile court led by Executive Magistrate of the Rab-4 Sarwar Alam started the drive from around 5:30pm and it was going on when the report was filed around 7:45pm, our Savar correspondent reports quoting the executive magistrate.

The drive was conducted based on several allegations of irregularities including providing wrong treatment and running the hospital with untrained manpower, he said.

On October 16, a general diary was filed with Cantonment Police Station against Gonoshasthaya Kendra founder Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury over his remarks on Army Chief Gen Aziz Ahmed at a TV programme.

Days after the GD was filed, a case has been lodged against him and some others allegedly for attempting to grab a piece of land in Savar area and demanding extortion.

Mohammad Ali, a resident of Harirampur upazila of Manikganj, filed the case accusing Zafrullah and three other named and three to four unnamed persons with Ashulia Police Station on October 16.

However, Dr Zafrullah told The Daily Star that Gonoshasthaya has owned the land for over 35 years and has legal documents under his possession.
