2 killed, 30 hurt as bus veers off road
A bus fell into a ditch while allegedly racing another in Rangpur's Pirganj upazila on Tuesday night, killing two people and injuring at least 30 others.
Swaraj Chandra, officer-in-charge (OC) of Pirganj Police Station said a Dhaka-bound bus of United Paribahan hit a bus of GR Paribahan before skidding off the road, killing one person on spot and injuring 31 passengers. Another victim succumbed to his injuries on the way hospital, he said, adding that others were being treated in different hospitals in Rangpur.
In Bogura, a three-year-old boy died after being hit by a human-haulier in Sariakandi upazila yesterday, reports our correspondent. Police said a case was filed.
In Joypurhat, Gopal Chandra, 67, died after being hit by a three-wheeler in Akkelpur upazila on Tuesday, local police said.
Meanwhile, two people were killed as a speeding bus hit their motorbike in Santhia upazila of Dhaka-Pabna highway on Tuesday. The accident took place at Rajapur rail gate area, said OC of Santhia Police Station. Another passenger was injured in the incident.
