Mushfiqur to play for Chittagong Vikings in upcoming BPL
Bangladesh's wicket-keeper batsman Mushfiqur Rahim will play for Chittagong Vikings in the upcoming season of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).
Mushfiqur was up for grabs in today's BPL players' draft being held at the Radisson Blu Water Garden but Vikings did not wait for the draft and rather took Mushfiqur ahead of the players' draft taking place. The batsman, who was released by Rajshahi Kings has been in terrific form of late, hitting an incredible 144 and a 90-run knock in the recently concluded Asia Cup.
Except for Mushfiqur, most of the big-name icon players were retained by their franchises. The likes of Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, Tamim Iqbal, Shakib Al Hasan and Mahmudullah Riyad were retained by their respective franchises from last season. Mustafizur Rahman was acquired by Mushfiqur's previous team Rajshahi Kings while Sylhet Sixers have made dashing opener Liton Das as their new icon player for the upcoming season with their previous icon Sabbir Rahman, also being retained.
Chittagong Vikings did not have a grade 'A+' category player in their squad and ahead of the draft today, they requested the BPL governing council to get Mushfiqur and their request was accepted by the council.
