5 DAGs relieved from service
President Abdul Hamid cancelled appointments of five deputy attorney generals (DAGs) and relieved them from service on grounds of public interest yesterday.
The five DAGs are: Zahirul Haque Zahir, Abdullah Al Mamun, Md Jahangir Alam, Shaikh AKM Moniruzzaman Kabir and Manjur Kader.
The law ministry issued a gazette notification to this effect, stating the decision was taken in public interest.
Contacted, Law Secretary ASSM Zahirul Haque, who signed the notification, did not elaborate on the matter.
After the decision, there are now 75 deputy attorney generals to deal with litigations on behalf of the state.
