Zimbabwe out for 282 after Taijul's six
Bangladesh left-arm spinner Taijul Islam picked up his fourth five-wicket haul in Test cricket as hosts Bangladesh bowled out Zimbabwe for 282 on the second morning of the first Test at the Sylhet International Stadium.
Taijul ended with six for 108 in 39.3 overs, taking the last two wickets of Kyle Jarvis and Tendai Chatara off successive deliveries just over 10 minutes before the lunch interval. Bangladesh openers Liton Das and Imrul Kayes played out two overs for two runs before the teams went for the first break of the day.
Zimbabwe began the day promisingly en ough, with Peter Moor and Regbis Chakabva walking out at 236 for five and adding 25 runs in a slow start. But in the 103rd over, the 12th of the day, Chakabva tried to turn Taijul to the leg side and it stuck between Nazmul Hossain Shanto's arms and thighs at short leg, producing an unlikely dismissal against the run of play.
While Moor was stonewalling at one end, Taijul had Wellington Masakadza caught behind and debutant left-arm spinner had trapped Brandon Mavuta leg-before to leave Zimbabwe on 273 for eight.
Moor remained unbeaten on a 192-ball 63 as Taijul wrapped things up at the other end. The left-arm spinner will be on a hattrick when he bowls in Zimbabwe's second innings.
