Shakib starts batting
Bangladesh Test and T20I skipper Shakib Al Hasan – recovering from a finger injury -- started light batting practice in the nets yesterday. He said that he was feeling better but added that it would take time to get fully match fit.
There has been speculation about whether the all-rounder will return for the first Test against the West Indies starting from November 22 in Chattogram, but it is highly unlikely for Shakib to make that deadline.
"I have just started batting against the spinners bowling at low pace and it was good, considering that it was the first day," he told reporters in Mirpur. "I have not felt pain and I will be able to know after facing pace and when the volume of my batting increases. Let's see what happens.
"Everything will start slowly -- I may start fielding and bowling over the next one or two days. It will take time and it's not possible to start everything suddenly. I will think about the match if the improvement continues."
