Production High, Prices Poor
Over late summer and autumn, farmers of Munshiganj had been busy on their vegetable fields. They have been hard at work for growing spinach, radish, carrots, tomato, bean, cauliflower, cabbage, papaya and different sorts of gourds for the winter. Their efforts resulted in good harvest but a little too good a production. Now, the kitchen markets of the capital, where most of Munshiganj's agricultural produce ship to, have been flooded with winter vegetables and the prices have dropped. This has delighted many consumers but the farmers have been getting less-then-expected prices for their produce.
