Stop use of AL slogan in govt activities: BNP writes to EC
BNP today sent a letter to the Election Commission urging it to take steps against the use of Awami League’s slogans in different executive orders of the government.
In the letter, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said different slogans like “Unnyoner Gonotontro, Sheikh Hasina’r Mulmantra (Development-oriented democracy is Sheikh Hasina’s vision)” are being used in the letters of different executive orders of the government and in the letters on ‘electoral priorities’ from the secretariat, district or upazila administrations.
Even after the announcement of the election schedule, such use of party slogans for administrative purposes is a clear violation of the electoral code of conduct which is contrary to the congenial atmosphere for a free and fair election, the letter read.
He also strongly urged the EC to give necessary order to the administration to stay aside from using such publicity and promotion.
