‘Stop atrocities against minority communities’
A total of 88 minority people were killed and more than a thousand were tortured allegedly by influential people this year, Bangladesh Jatiya Hindu Mohajote (BJHM) said in a report today.
Twenty-nine women were raped and four women were murdered after rape during this time, the BJHM leaders said while unveiling the report at a press conference at Jatiya Press Club in Dhaka today.
Govinda Chandra Pramanik, secretary general of the alliance, alleged that a total of 20,734 acres of land belonging to the minority groups in the country were grabbed this year by the influential quarters.
Placing a three-point demand, Pramanik urged to the political parties to stop the atrocities against the minority people.
The alliance also threatened to boycott the national election if its demands were not included in the manifestoes of the political parties.
The three-point demand includes allocating 50 reserved seats in the parliament for minority groups, creating a separate ministry and an independent commission for them.
The report was prepared after analysing different news published on news agencies and social media from January to November this year.
