AL never exploited power: Quader
Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader today said his party never exploited power and that it has the honest courage to rectify from mistakes.
“We have never exploited power. We may have made some mistakes; it’s a big political party. But we always rectify our errors. Sheikh Hasina has the courage to rectify mistakes,” he said.
The AL leader came up with the remarks at a briefing at the party president’s political office in Dhaka’s Dhanmondi, reports Bangla daily Prothom Alo.
Quader, also the minister for Road Transport and Bridges, said: “Our politics is for Bangladesh and its people. We are always with the people. Even if we are not elected to power, we won’t flee. We are born here, and we will perish in this country”.
Asked, Quader said AL’s election manifesto would be unveiled after the nomination process is over. The programme is likely to be held at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre or Krishibid Institute.
In the manifesto, the party is going to put emphasis on its rural development works with the slogan “Din Bodoler Obhijaan, Odomyo Bangladesh [Indomitable Bangladesh: A Journey of Transformation],” the AL general secretary said.
Asked about the party’s leaders who joined Jatiya Oikyafront, Quader said that those AL leaders have taken poison willingly as they joined arms with communal forces.
Replying to a query about the party’s nomination, he said AL is yet to finalise its nominated candidates.
