12 against England or 12 against Windies? Miraz reveals
Mehedi Miraz dazzled in both innings for the Tigers as he attained the best bowling figure by a Bangladeshi in Tests, bettering his own figures of 12 for 159 against England in 2016. While his stats in this Test was better than his exploits in 2016, according to him the past performance still edges out today's one.
He bagged six wickets in each innings as Bangladesh won against England in 2016. Asked which performance he liked most Miraz said: "Both are good performances in my eyes but the turning point in my life came against England. So obviously that one has preference since I am more matured in terms of experience, especially after talking to the seniors," he said.
West Indies batsmen Shimron Hetmyer had proved to be a dangerous proposition in both Tests and is the highest run-scorer among Windies batsmen. With the ability to take matches away from opponents, his wicket must have been the one Bangladesh always looked for. Miraz bagged the left-hander in each of the four innings over the course of the two-Test innings.
"I played against him many times. I played in two youth World Cups before I entered the national team. So i knew a lot about him from before which made it easier to strategise. That's why success came," Miraz revealed.
