Oikyafront wants to create instability: 14-party tells EC
BNP and Jatiya Oikyafront are playing a blame game to make the upcoming general election controversial, Bangladesher Samyabadi Dal General Secretary Dilip Barua said this today.
“We believe that the election will be free and fair. But they (BNP and Oikyafront) can say it is controversial,” Barua told reporters emerging from a meeting with the election commissioners today.
A delegation of the 14-party alliance led by him went to the Nirbachan Bhaban in Dhaka and met with the election commissioners this afternoon.
“Through playing a blame game, they (BNP and Oikyafront) are making the Election Commission a opposition party,” he added, while briefing journalists after the meeting.
He further alleged that the parties using Jamaat-e-Islami activists who can create chaos before the election as they are trying to make the polls controversial nationally and internationally.
“Foiling the election, they (BNP and Oikyafront) want to create political instability in the country. So, we have urged the Election Commission to be alert to foil such activities,” he said.
The alliance submitted a letter in this regard to the EC over the election slated to be held on December 30.
