Viqarunnisa Noon ninth grader Aritry Adhikary, who committed suicide yesterday, was a brilliant girl who knew seven languages, family members said today.

Aritry knew Japanese, Korean, English, Spanish, Hindi, Tamil and Bangla, her father Dilip Adhikary told The Daily Star in tear-soaked voice.

She was a brilliant girl and was also engaged with various cultural and extra-curricular activities like singing and dancing, he said.

She used to read a lot of books which was evident from a large stack of books in her room's library.

She also was a big fan of travelling and had already visited Malaysia, Nepal, China, Singapore and Bangkok in her such a short life.

She was all for life and wanted to become an entrepreneur after growing up, family members added.

She secured the seventh position during her entrance exam of the school and had secured golden A+ in her PSC and JSC examinations.

“But how could a single mistake take away her life?” her father questioned.

Yesterday afternoon, Aritry hanged herself in her house after she was scolded by her teachers over plagiarism in tests.
