ULAB Turns 11
Founded in 2004, University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB), a top-tier private university in Bangladesh, celebrated its 11th founding anniversary on October 28, 2015 at its Campus A in Dhanmondi, Dhaka. The inauguration of the event took place with a video of ULAB's notable achievements so far, followed by ULAB Emeritus Professor Rafiqul Islam's welcome speech. Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh, MP, chief guest at the event, then gave his speech. Professor Imran Rahman, Vice Chancellor of ULAB, presented the members of faculty and administration with the Vice Chancellor's Award of Excellence.
The faculty members were awarded on fulfillment of five standards: involving engagement in learning and teaching, engagement in research, community engagement, service to students, and service to the university community. The members of administration were awarded for fulfilling three criteria including support for learning and teaching activities, service to students, and commitment to the ULAB vision.
In his keynote speech, Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh said, "Everything starts with a dream. A dream of harvesting highly educated Bangladeshi citizens through providing quality higher education is what started ULAB. I would like to congratulate the ULAB authorities, faculty, and especially the students who brought ULAB a long way since they started. ULAB has the spirit, the logistics, infrastructure, the faculty, and the students to make it among the top ranked universities in the world in the long run. I believe they will go the distance in future."
As part of the programme, the chief guest and the ULAB authorities including Dr. Kazi Anis Ahmed, Vice President of ULAB's Board of Trustees, joined the celebration by cutting a cake. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by the Vice Chancellor.
