BNP supporter dies after ‘jumping off building to avoid arrest’

A BNP supporter died after he jumped off a four-storey building to avoid police arrest inside the Chattogram Export Processing Zone early today, party sources claimed.

Md Russel, 35, jumped off the building as police in plainclothes chased him sometime between 4am and 6am today, according to Rokon Uddin Mahmud, general secretary of EPZ BNP unit.

Officer-in-Charge of EPZ Police Station Mir Nurul Huda said, “We heard about the incident but the reason behind his death is still unknown.”

The OC, however, denied their involvement with the incident.

The police official said they are looking into the matter.
