I have never thought about anything outside of cricket : Rumana Ahmed (All-rounder/Captain ODI)
Star Showbiz: How do you view success?
Rumana Ahmed: I work hard for success. This is actually an ordinary concept. For succeeding in life, one must work extremely hard. Although I have not fully succeeded yet, any good news pleases me immensely. That builds my self-confidence. For example, receiving the news of the honour from Star Showbiz, I was elated. This is a huge gain for me.
Star Showbiz: Why did you decide to come to this profession?
Rumana: This was not actually a profession at first. It was the fascination and love for cricket. Then I took this as a career path. When I was a child, I used to dream about women playing cricket. In 2008, when I first heard that women actually do play cricket, I became interested in the sport.
Star Showbiz: Who was your inspiration for joining cricket?
Rumana: My inspiration was my family. When my parents found out that women can play cricket through newspapers and learned that I like cricket, they enrolled me in Khulna's Cricket Academy. I got enrolled there in 2008, after completing my SSC.
Star Showbiz: What is the secret behind your success?
Rumana: My secret is my hard work and perseverance. Regular practice, knowledge of cricket and regularity, among others are also important.
Star Showbiz: Can you please tell us about a memorable event from your life?
Rumana: There are many memorable events, but notable ones are the 2018 Asia Cup's incidents. From there, many changes started taking place in our careers. This was a huge success for women's cricket. I was twice the 'Woman of the Match' in that series and was also the 'Player of the Final' in the finals.
Star Showbiz: What are your plans for the future?
Rumana: I have never thought about anything outside of cricket, actually. I want to finish my education. My education has been hampered for the sport, so I hope to finish it. I am doing my Honours in English. This is my last year. After finishing, I will keep on playing cricket. My dream of cricket is very big. I can't think of anything else other than cricket.
Star Showbiz: What is your advice for the people who want to start playing?
Rumana: Playing cricket is a thing to be proud of. We are representing the country. I welcome the newcomers. I am always ready to help them. My advice to them is that they participate in the district-level matches and prepare themselves.
Star Showbiz: Please say something regarding the fans.
Rumana: Regarding my fans, I hope that they pray for me, so that we can bring many more achievements for the country.
