4 out of 7 JMB men Pakistanis: DMP
Detectives busted a group of seven members of Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB), four of whom are citizens of Pakistan, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) says.
The gang was involved in trading fake currencies to raise funds for militant activities in the country, said Monirul Islam, joint commissioner of Detective Branch of police.
He was addressing a press briefing at the DMP media centre this afternoon.
A team of DB arrested the JMB men in Airport Police Station area last night, Monirul said.
The detainees are: Md Babul Khan, Md Farman, Shahin, Md Idris Ali, Md Shakil, Md Khalilur Rahman and Md Iqbal. Among them, Idris, Shakil, Khalilur and Iqbal are Pakistani citizens.
Police also recovered seven passports, seven mobile phone sets and some books on jihadi from their possessions.
The Bangladeshi detainees frequently visited Pakistan to deal with the illegal business, Monirul further said.
