Mr. 360 ready for the challenge and expecting fireworks
Rangpur Riders have just two wins from six matches in this year's Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) but new arrival AB De Villiers is hoping that his team can make it to the knockout rounds. The BPL is a new experience for the South African and he expected some fireworks in the Bangladesh condidtions which has not produced quite enough runs yet.
While his team are not in the best position, there are names in the side who can turn a match on its head. "I love coming to Bangladesh. I haven't been here for a while. We got a really nice team in the Rangpur Riders. We haven't played as of yet, but hoping to turn it around and finish well in the tournament," he replied when asked what prompted him to come to the BPL.
Mashrafe Bin Mortaza's side will be hoping that there misfiring stars live upto their billing as the tournament enters a crucial juncture. AB may not have much expectations coming in to a new league but he would neverthless like to put on a show by his own admission. " You can't perform every game. I am also realistic about the sport. I don't expect too much of myself. But I do expect some fireworks from time to time,' he reiterated.
While the pitches and the conditions in Bangladesh have been a cause for concern, AB said he preferred pitches where there was a bit of turn. "The wicket is always good. You get some that turn a little bit. I don't mind. I have always enjoyed wickets that turn a bit, and then you get some good wickets as well. I have seen our last game against Sylhet. The wicket played pretty well. Hoping for that again tomorrow," he concluded.
