‘Govt may restrict apps use’
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today hinted at a temporary regulation of the internet in the coming days to trace the militant activities.
She gave the hint while speaking at a press conference held at her official residence Gono-bhaban, to brief the media about the outcome of her just-concluded three-day visit to the Netherlands.
The use of communication apps like Viber, may be temporarily restricted to allow police and detectives to detect militants and their activities, she said.
The PM said that there are some side-effects of having digitized Bangladesh, along with the overwhelming good impacts. She said that the country now has 3G internet connection and will soon have 4G connections.
"The militants are doing their activities using the internet and some apps. If these activities are occuring using the internet then the government might think to snap these for some time to nab the militants," she said.
