Govt blocks 244 porn sites

The government today blocked 244 pornographic websites though its internet safety solution program run by Telecom Department.

Telecom minister Mustafa Jabbar confirmed the development to The Daily Star.

This is the first initiative of internet safety solution program which be fully functional from the second week of March, Jabbar told The Daily Star.

“Porn site and other harmful websites will be blocked through this process and the move will continue from the government side,” said Jabbar.

Earlier, in November 2016 the High Court directed the government to take initiative to block pornography websites and Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Communication had blocked about five hundred such sites at that time.
