Garo girl ‘raped’ in Dhaka

A 16-year-old Garo girl was allegedly raped by her employer in Gulshan area of Dhaka today.

The victim was admitted at Dhaka Medical College Hospital for treatment and medical test, said Sub Inspector Bachhu Mia, in-charge of the DMCH police outpost.  

Talking to The Daily Star, a relative of the victim said the girl, hailing from Sherpur, took a job as a housemaid at the residence of one Yusuf in Kalachandpur area in late January.

Yusuf, an electrician, “raped” the girl twice when his wife went outside around 9:00am, the relative said quoting the victim.

On information, the victim’s relatives rescued her and admitted to the DMCH.

Abu Bakar Siddique, officer-in-charge of Gulshan Police Station, said that they have got the allegation of the incident. A team of police have been sent to the spot, he added.
