7 hurt in CU BCL infighting
At least seven people were injured when two rival groups of Bangladesh Chhatra League clashed on Chittagong University campus last night.
Names and other details of the injured could not be known yet, our Chittagong University correspondent reports quoting in-charge of Chittagong University Police outpost Inspector Md Akhteruzzaman.
Eight crude bombs also exploded in the area during the clash.
Last night, supporters of Golam Rosul Nishan, former vice-president of the now dissolved BCL committee, searched for him on the campus.
Failing to find him out, they locked into the clash with another group of BCL in front of the Suhrawardy hall bringing allegation that the latter abducted Nishan.
Supporters of Nishan padlocked a gate at the university’s zero point and staged a 15-minute demonstration around 11:30pm yesterday, the official said.
Three of the injured are being treated at Chittagong Medical College Hospital.
Meanwhile, Nishan was found later in the city’s Lalkhan area in an injured state, his supporters claimed.
