Ctg-bound flights delayed at Dhaka airport
Several flights bound for Chattogram could not depart from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka following Biman aircraft hijack attempt at Shah Amanat International Airport.
Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) Chairman Air Vice Marshal M Naim Hassan told The Daily Star that four to five Chattogram-bound flights were delayed due to the incident.
He also said that Security measures have been beefed upat Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport and a dog squad was deployed there.
A hijacker was killed during an attempted hijacking of a national flag carrier flight at Shah Amanat International Airportthis evening, authorities have said.
The hijacker claimed himself as Mehedi, a youth of around 25 and wielding a gun. He was killed in a swift commando operation, Bangladesh Army said.
