No bar on Afroza Abbas to go abroad, return: HC
The High Court today cleared the way for Afroza Abbas, president of Jatiyatabadi Mohila Dal, to go abroad and return to the country.
The court ordered the government not to create any obstruction while Afroza will leave the country and return home from abroad, her lawyer Advocate Sagir Hossain Leon told The Daily Star.
The HC bench of Justice Tariq ul Hakim and Justice Md Shohrowardi passed the order following a writ petition filed by Afroza challenging the legality of the immigration officers’ action to bar her on March 2 from boarding a plane at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka.
On that day, she was leaving the country for Malaysia to visit her relatives.
Afroza Abbas filed the writ petition with the HC today seeking its directive on the authorities concerned of the government not to create any obstruction to her leaving the country and returning home from abroad.
Following the petition, the HC also issued a rule asking the government to explain in four weeks why the immigration officers’ action to bar Afroza from going abroad should not be declared illegal, Advocate Leon added.
