Nur, Liton will be sued: BCL Secy Rabbani
Bangladesh Chhatra League’s (BCL) General Secretary has spoken of lawsuits against leaders of opposition panels for “ruining” Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (Ducsu) election.
“We demand that Nur, Liton Nandi, Anik to be permanently rusticated,” the general secretary candidate for Ducsu from BCL panel, told reporters at campus today.
“This is completely a propaganda to ruin the environment of our long-awaited Ducsu polls,” he said. “General students will file a lawsuit against them,” Rabbani said.
All the opposing panels, including that of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, have boycotted the Ducsu election alleging irregularities leaving the field open for BCL, ruling party’s student front.
The election today was marred in incidents of violence, assault on vice president candidate Nurul Haque Nur, proof of irregularities at girls’ halls, and “attempted attacks”.
Reflecting on the attack on Nur, Rabbani said: “I and our President Rezwanul Haque Chowdhury Shovon went to Rokeya Hall alone. There wasn’t a third person with us. How could we attack Nur there?”
