Expectation is taking its toll
We often lead ourselves to dangerous precipices by letting our expectations get the better of us. It's one of those human flaws that make things seem amazing when the going is good, but has the exact opposite, intensifying effect when the going is bad.
Here's the thing though, there needs to be a balance to the outcomes when we consider a thing as dangerous as expectation. You need to feel the joy of expectations fulfilled enough times in between feeling let down over and over again. When you start feeling let down more often than feeling like things are living up to their billings, it breeds something sick and twisted inside.
But even if the going is terrible, aren't we allowed to expect some basic niceties from life? Can we not ask to have things like fair treatment, or responsible behaviour from people who are supposed to be responsible? The realistic answer is often 'no', but I'd like to hear the right answer for once.
