SCBA polls today

The two-day annual election to the 14-member executive committee including president and secretary of Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) begins today.

The polling will start at 10:00am in the bar building and continue till 5:00pm with one hour's lunch and prayer break, while the result is likely to be announced on Thursday, SCBA Superintended Nimesh Chandra Das said yesterday.

A total of 7,825 lawyers will cast their votes in the polls, he said adding, a four-member committee led by Advocate AY Masiuzzaman will conduct the election.

Advocate AM Aminuddin and Advocate Md Abdun Nur Dulal are contesting for the posts of SCBA president and secretary respectively from Bangabandhu Awami Ainjibi Parishad, while Advocate AJ Mohammad Ali and Barrister AM Mahbub Uddin Khokon are contesting for the same posts from Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Oikya Panel.
