‘Drug trader’ killed in Cox’s Bazar ‘gunfight’
A suspected drug trader was killed in a reported gunfight with members of paramilitary force Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar early today.
The deceased was identified as Nurul Islam, 32, son of Abdul Gafur of ward no. 4 of the municipality.
Tipped off, a team of BGB-2 conducted a drive at Delpara village around 4:00am, said Shariful Islam Chamakdar, acting commanding officer of BGB-2.
Sensing presence of the border guards, the criminals opened fire on the law enforcers, leaving one dead on the spot.
The BGB team also recovered 7,000 yaba pills and two sharp weapons from the spot.
The body was sent to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
