'Security provided for overseas tours is not adequate'
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hassan reiterated that the security provided to teams in nothing like the incredible measures that are put in place when teams come to visit Bangladesh.
While addressing the media at his residence in Gulshan, the BCB president was asked about whether more security measures needs to be demanded when the team plays overseas tours, especially with the upcoming World Cup in England.
"ICC ensures security during their events. There is a minimum standard which they make sure are implemented. What I feel is that the kind of security overseas is not adequate. Because what we do [in terms of security] is a whole lot more.
"Since England has seen this kind of incidents before and is very alert. My thinking is that they will provide good security. From our side, we will undertake extra measures as per requirement," he said.
He maintained that attacks or incidents similar to this can happen anywhere and not just in New Zealand and suggested that all countries should look into this incident and be on the guard regarding safety of players.
"This type of things can happen anywhere. Every team and every country will have to be on their guard regarding this sort of incidents.
"Naturally we did not see the security measures as being close to what is usually here in Bangladesh. Not just in NZ but anywhere we travel with the team."
