All fugitive criminals to be brought back from abroad: Minister
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan today said the government will bring back all the fugitive criminals hiding abroad, including convicted killers of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, to mete out punishment to them.
“We’ll gradually bring back all the fugitive criminals and bring them to book,” he said while addressing a reception as the chief guest at Officers’ Club in the city.
Officers’ Club organised the reception to meritorious children of its members who passed SSC, HSC, “O” level and “A” level examinations successfully.
Asaduzzaman said they are always active to bring back the fugitives who fled the country after committing criminal activities here. “Sometimes, it is delayed as we have no extradition treaty with many countries,” he said.
About the repatriation of Nur Hossain, the prime accused in the sensational seven-murder cases of Narayanganj, from India, he said, “We do what we pledge. We don’t resort to empty rhetoric.”
The minister said most of the accused in the cases have already been arrested. “Police also submitted charge sheet and the trial is underway,” he said.
Officers’ Club secretary Abu Alam Md Shahid Khan gave the welcome speech at the programme with its chairman Cabinet Secretary Mohammad Shafiul Alam in the chair.
