4 hurt as miscreants attack cops in N’ganj

Four policemen were injured when a gang of miscreants attacked them for asking to move away from the middle of the road in Fatullah area of Narayanganj.

The police officials fired four rounds of bullets in self-defence and detained one Sohel from the spot, our Narayanganj correspondent reports quoting Sub-inspector of Fatullah Police Station Faheyat Uddin Raktim.

The injured police personnel -- SI Raktim and constables Helal Uddin, Jahangir Alam and Alamgir Hossain – were rushed to a local hospital.

The incident occurred when the SI along with the three constables were going to Char Kashimpur on a CNG and saw that one of the gang members, named Jewel, was standing in the middle of the road, blocking the road.

When the cops asked him to move away, the youth called up his cohorts and started throwing brick chips on the policemen.

Contacted this morning, the officer-in-charge of the police station Manjur Kader said police would file a case in this regard.
