AL supporters attempt to occupy N’ganj polling centre, 2 held
Two supporters of Awami League-backed candidate were detained for their alleged attempt to occupy a polling centre in Narayanganj’s Sonargaon upazila hours before the fourth phase of upazila elections began this morning.
The followers of vice chairman candidate Omar Babu alias Babul Hossain tried to take control of Borab Govt Primary School centre in Sadipur union around 1:00am, our local correspondent reports quoting police.
They also exploded crude bombs during the incident, said Sajjad Roman, an inspector of Narayanganj Special Branch of police.
The detainees are Suman, 21, of Kanchpur union and Khokon, 20, of the same locality.
Legal actions will be taken against them, the police official added.
