70 held in anti-drug drive at N’ganj floating restaurant
Police conducted a raid at floating restaurant Mary Anderson Restaurant and Bar in Buriganga river in Narayanganj last night and arrested 70 people along with huge quantities of liquor.
The restaurant authorities couldn't show any legal documents regarding the sale of liquor while the detainees also failed to show any valid papers in favour of taking alcohol, Subash Chandra Shaha, additional superintendent of police (DB) in Narayanganj, told The Daily Star.
The raid was conducted upon information that youths used to engage in indecent activities after drinking liquor at the bar, Subash Chandra Shaha, additional superintendent of police (DB) in Narayanganj, told The Daily Star.
As per instruction of the Superintendent of Police Mohammad Harun Or Rashid, the detectives and Fatulla police jointly conducted the raid at the restaurant in Pagla area of Narayanganj from 8:00pm to 10:00pm, said Sajjad Roman, inspector of Special Branch in Narayanganj.
Legal action will be taken against the detainees, our Narayanganj correspondent reports quoting the SB official.
