Illegal buildings: ‘Govt to extend support for disposal of cases’
The government will provide assistance to the attorney general’s office and the prosecution for quick disposal of the cases filed in connection with illegal constructions of buildings in Dhaka, Law Minister AnisulHaq said today.
“I have already requested the housing and public works ministry to provide information and all necessary documents to the attorney general’s office and the prosecution so that they can place argument before the court for quick disposal of the cases,” the minister said.
He was talking to the reporters after a meeting with Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Riva Ganguli at his secretariat office today.
At one stage, the reporters asked the minister whether the government would take any action against former chief justice Surendra Kumar Sinha as Anisul yesterday said Justice Sinha had attempted a judicial coup.
In reply, the minister said, “Wait and see”.
The minister on Monday said former chief justice Surendra Kumar Sinha had intended to stage a judicial coup.
