Malaysia road crash: 2 victims buried

Two of the five Bangladeshis killed in a road crash in Malaysia on April 7 were buried in their ancestral homes in Noakhali and Chandpur today.

In Noakhali, a hearse carrying the body of deceased Golam Mostafa reached his village Uttar Ramnarayanpur in Chatkhil upazila around 10:00am, our local correspondent reports quoting family.

He was laid to rest beside the grave of his grandmother after Asr prayers, the family sources said.

Nur Uddin, the elder brother of the deceased, received the body at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka early today.

A pall of gloom descended in the area following the death of Mostafa, who went to Malaysia nine months ago selling their property.

In Chandpur, the burial of the road crash victim Al Amin, 25, was performed in Faridganj upazila of the district.

His namaj-e-janaza, attended by hundreds of relatives and villagers, was held this morning at his ancestral village in Gobindapur Dakshin union this morning.

He was later buried at their family graveyard, family members said.

His father Amir Hossain expressed gratitude to the government for taking the initiative to bring back his son’s body from Malaysia and sought financial assistance on the ground that he sent his son abroad taking loan.

The bodies of the five Bangladeshi nationals, who lost their lives in tragic a road accident in Malaysia, arrived here early today, UNB reported.

A Malaysia Airlines flight MH 196, carrying the bodies of the youths, arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 12:55am.

On April 7, a total of 12 people, including the five Bangladeshis, were killed and 35 others were injured after a bus carrying them skidded off the road into a monsoon drain in Malaysia.

The accident occurred around 11:10pm near the MAS Cargo Complex of Kuala Lumpur International Airport along Jalan S8 Pekeliling in Sepang.
