Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today reiterated her warning that the killers of Sonagazi madrasa student Nusrat Jahan Rafi will not be spared.

“The perpetrators who burnt Nusrat to death will not be spared from the hand of the law in any way,” Hasina came up with the warning when Nusrat’s parents AKM Musa and Shirina Aktar and her two brothers called on her at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) this morning.

Sheikh Hasina also consoled the family members of Nusrat and expressed profound sympathy at the tragic death of the madrasa student, according to a source of the prime minister’s media wing.

The prime minister also provided a job to Nusrat’s brother Mahmudul Hasan Noman at the NRB Global Bank and handed over an appointment letter to him during the meeting, the source said.

Chairman of the NRB Global Bank Nizam Chowdhury was present at the prime minister office on this occasion.

Assuring them of extending her all kinds of cooperation, Hasina, also president of the ruling Awami League, asked the bank chairman to take care of the education of Nusrat's younger.

Nusrat’s parents and her brothers expressed their gratitude to the prime minister for standing beside them, the source said.

WHAT HAPPENED TO NUSRAT?

Nusrat, a student of Sonagazi Islamia Senior Fazil Madrasa, was set ablaze on April 6 allegedly for refusing to withdraw a case filed against the principal for sexually harassing her late last month.

Only a few minutes before the Alim exams on April 6, four unidentified people allegedly took Nusrat to the roof of the three-storey administrative building of the madrasa saying one of her friends was being assaulted there, victim's brother Mahmudul Hasan Noman had told this newspaper earlier.

She lost her battle for life on April 10, five days after she was set afire -- an incident that sparked outrage all over the country.
