Bhutan PM enjoys the Bangla New Year
The spirit of our cultural festivity filled the air as the rays of the early morning sun of the Bangla New Year 1426, beamed with the promise of a better and brighter future. To celebrate Pohela Boishakh, Shurer Dhara, along with Channel i, jointly organised the event titled, Lever Ayush Hajaro Konthe Borsohboron 1426 at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre.
The director of News at Channel i, Shykh Seraj welcomed the Bhutanese doctor turned politician, Dr Lotay Tshering, with an uttorio. He took the pleasure to witness the musical ensemble presented by the chairman of Shurer Dhara and the initiator of the signature event, Rezwana Chowdhury Bannya along with a thousand artistes from all over Bangladesh. Later, Rezwana Chowdhury Bannya gifted him with Rabindranath Tagore's Gitabitan and Faridur Reza Sagor presented him with a crest.
Prime Minister Lotay Tshering, who earlier studied at Mymensingh Medical College, addressed the audience in Bangla, greeting them regarding the New Year. He also asked, if they had 'panta bhaat'. While he expressed his appreciation for the hearty welcome and the magnificent musical soiree, he also mentioned that he was longing to visit the institution where he studied for many years, which was his next destination.
The Prime Minister of Bhutan, Lotay Tshering graced the celebrations with his presence, together with Bhutan's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Tandi Dorji and others. Also present among others at the event were, Jatiya Sangsad Speaker, Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury; Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen; Indian Foreign Service diplomat, Riva Ganguly Das; managing director of Channel i Faridur Reza Sagor, CEO and managing director of Unilever Bangladesh, Kedar Lele; marketing director of Unilever Bangladesh, Nafees Anwar.
