BDCOM launches country’s first IPTV service
BDCOM Online Ltd launched the IPTV (Internet Protocol Television) service as the first company in the country on Pahela Baishakh, the first day of Bangla calendar.
The BDCOM, one of the oldest internet service providers (ISPs), has announced this in a meeting with Telecom Reporters’ Network Bangladesh at its office in the city.
The IPTV service has been launched with a package – Broadband360° – where customers will get broadband internet.
Apart from this, the company is offering existing internet speed and voice-based internet telephony service and all these packages together is called “Triple Play Service”.
The speed of the package is expected to be about 100 Mbps, said SM Golam Faruk Alamgir Arman, managing director of the company.
“We have broadband internet from the beginning and added IP telephony service in last decade and now we are adding IPTV service where customers can enjoy about 32 television channels online and get access to watch about 120 television channels gradually,” said Arman.
The company has connected with about two dozens of connections and selected 500 clients from 1,500 interested one, said Arman.
“IPTV is still incubation level and it will take few more days to run the service fully,” he added.
The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) earlier barred the service and withdrew the bar in October last year.
BDCOM said Broadband360° starts providing services to both home and business firms.
With other facilities, the customers will get 75Mbps for home at the cost of Tk 2,999 while 100Mbps at the cost of Tk 3,999.
For business purpose, the cost is Tk 9,999 for 75Mbps and Tk 11,999 for 100Mbps in a month.
