Channel i Online turns 5
The online version of privately owned television network Channel i stepped into its fifth year today.
A celebration programme was held at Channel i's Tejgaon office to mark the occasion.
Noted journalist Syed Abul Maksud, Channel i Director and News Editor Shaikh Siraj, Online Editor and Chief News Editor Zahid Newaz Khan, among others, joined the celebration.
Maksud lauded Channel i's journalistic practice, noting that the online media is challenging radio, television and newspapers. He said the online media is creating a different sort of environment for accountability of the administration and the state.
"But not all online media is the same," he said, noting that some of them spread false information at times.
Shaikh Siraj pointed out how online journalists have to be more responsible compared to other mass media workers.
"The competition's tough. There's a race to break news first but hastiness may lead to mistakes and that's very challenging," he said.
