WHAT’S IN A NAME?
Ahammed Fazle Rabbi (Nisho), better known by his screen name, Afran Nisho, is one of the most sought after stars in the showbiz industry today. Born in Tangail on December 8, 1980, he has countless hit television projects to his name. Nisho continues his successful career after being nominated in both the Popular Choice and Critics’ Choice awards in the Meril-Prothom Alo Awards. The Daily Star talks to the star about his upcoming work, plans and much more.
It seems like your Facebook account has been disabled. How did that happen?
Truth be told, some miscreants reported my account, alleging that it was fake and not run by me. Now, I will have to provide evidence to Facebook authorities that it is really me using the account. The situation has become a bit complex, since my name is Ahammed Fazle Rabbi in my official documents. I used the first letters in my name to form ‘Afran’ and make what would ultimately be my screen name, Afran Nisho.
Why would someone try to cause harm to you in this way?
Even though I cannot be entirely sure, it is likely that this has been done due to some personal vendetta. It may also be due to the fact that I have been nominated in the Meril Prothom Alo Awards for both the Critics’ Choice (Pherar Poth Nei by Ashfaque Nipun) and Popular Choice (Buker Ba Pashe by Mizanur Rahman Aryan). It could have been propagated to halt my campaign. Either way, I will get my account back, and this will not hold back my work.
How has your year been, with regards to work?
I am having a fantastic year. Many of the fictions have had a massive number of views this year. I hope to continue the good work.
Can number of views on YouTube be an indicator of the quality of the project?
Views on social media can never dictate how well a drama or serial has been made. There have been mediocre work which have fared well with the audience, whereas some really amazing productions have been overlooked. As an actor, I refuse to be typecast, which is a common phenomenon. I try to keep rediscovering myself as an actor like my idol, Humayun Faridee.
