4 DECADES OF FEEDBACK
“It has been 40 years, and we are still well and alive. We are still playing music. That is something to be grateful for,” said Maqsoodul Haque, Feedback’s former frontman and one of the most recognisable faces in the music industry, in a recent press conference. As the entire music industry looks forward to celebrating 40 years of Feedback, a band synonymous with groove, synergy and melody, April 30’s “4 Decades of Feedback” at ICCB looks to be an ultimate tribute to the musical juggernauts.
Having been formed in 1977, the band has gone through multiple changes in line-ups over the years. However, the staples of the band have been their leader and keyboardist Foad Nasser Babu, Labu Rahman and Maqsoodul Haque, each of whom are legends in the industry in their own right.
While Melay Jaire from their album, Mela in 1990 became a staple song in Bangladesh’s Pohela Baishakh festivals across the country, Moushumi became a musical muse for thousands of love-ridden youth in the late 80’s and 90’s. Jai Jai Din got the Feedback the recognition as the best band of the country in 1995. In 1997, Feedback did the unthinkable and released an album with only one song, Dehoghori. When the self-titled cassette was played from either side, only Dehoghori played.
Throughout the four decades, the band has constantly reinvented themselves to stay relevant. “There is no band that can claim to have not gone through difficult periods,” says Labu Rahman, “however, what is important is that we are still making music, and want to do so as long as we live.”
The band’s current line-up includes Foad Nasser Babu, Labu Rahman , Enam Tonty , Shahnur Rahman Lumin , Daneash , Raihan al Hassan. In the festivities that will commence on April 30 at ICCB, Miles, Artcell, Warfaze and Dalchhut will play, as well as Feedback. The concert will be full of surprises and nostalgia, and one to be remembered for a long time to come. Registration is free, and can be completed from www.shohoz.com
