13 flights cancelled due to rough weather
A total of 13 flights have so far been cancelled today and several others delayed due to rough weather triggered by cyclone Fani, which is crossing over the country.
The flights for Dhaka-Chattogram BG 413 and Chattogram-Dhaka BG 414 routes were cancelled while the Dhaka-Kolkata flight BG 091 has been delayed till 3:30pm, said Shakil Meraj, general manager (public relation) of Biman Bangladesh Airlines.
Meanwhile, private airline Novo Air today cancelled eight flights on Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Jashore and Kolkata routes and delayed 16 other flights due to rough weather, said Mesbah Ul Islam, head of Marketing and Sales of the airline.
Regent Airways has cancelled its Dhaka-Kolkata flight, an official told The Daily Star.
Also, US-Bangla Airlines cancelled its Dhaka-Syedpur flight and delayed its Dhaka-Kolkata flight till this afternoon, said Kamrul Islam, general manager of Marketing and Sales of the airlines.
The country is experiencing heavy rain and thunder shower under the influence of the cyclone Fani.
The eye of the cyclone Fani was located west of Dhaka and it would cross over Bangladesh in the afternoon, the Met Office said around 10:00am.
