IT professional ‘missing’ in Dhaka for 3 days
An information technology professional is reportedly missing in Dhaka for three days now.
Ataur Rahman Shahin, 38, was an assistant general manager at a private institution in Tejgaon. He was reportedly hustled into a microbus in Gulshan on Thursday night.
Victim’s uncle Saiful Islam filed a missing diary yesterday in connection with the incident, Industrial Police Station Officer-In-Charge Ali Hossain told The Daily Star.
He said, video footages of nearby CCTV cameras show he was shoved into a white microbus around 8:05pm Thursday. The car’s number plate was yet to be determined.
WHAT DOES THE CCTV FOOTAGE SHOW?
The vehicle was stationed in front of Akij House since 7:22pm where Atiur went on official purpose, said Manjur Hossain, his brother-in-law, who claims to have seen the footage.
As he was waiting for a rider of a ride-sharing service, three men were seen shoving him into the microbus and speeding away from the spot.
Manjur also said the men shown in the video footage seemed well-built in stature.
WHAT WE KNOW ABOUT ATIUR?
Ataur completed his education in India’s Bangalore, specialising in software engineering. He lives with his family in Dhaka’s Mirpur area.
He has an eight-year-old boy and a pregnant wife, family sources said.
His wife Nilufa Yasmin said they were frantically looking for Atiur everywhere possible.
“I want my husband back,” she told The Daily Star today.
