Police informant stabbed dead in Rampura

An informant of police was stabbed to death in Dhaka’s Rampura area early today.

The deceased was identified as Rasel, 23, a resident of the capital’s Khilgaon area and son of Md Motaleb, said Inspector Bachchu Mia, in-charge of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) police outpost.

Rasel went out of the house responding to a phone call around 2:30am. Later, he was stabbed indiscriminately by unidentified criminals in Jamtala area of Rampura, police said.

He was rushed to the casualty unit of DMCH in a critical state where doctors declared him “brought dead”. He sustained stab injuries in his abdomen, hands, and ribs, according to the DMCH sources.

The body has been kept at the hospital’s morgue and an autopsy will be conducted later, Inspector Bachchu Mia added.
