Fire at Bangladesh Bank Barishal branch
Fire broke out at the coin vault of Bangladesh Bank’s Barishal branch today, which was doused within 10 minutes without reports of major damage.
It originated at coin vault on the first floor of the building at Deenbandhu Sen Road of Barishal city around 10:12am, our local correspondent reports.
Faruk Hosen Shikdar, deputy assistant director of Barishal Fire Service and Civil Defence, told The Daily Star an electric short circuit is likely to be the cause.
No significant damages were caused by the short-lived fire, Manaj Kanti Bairagi, executive director of the Bangladesh Bank branch told journalists.
A committee will be formed to access the cause and damage of the fire, he said.
Six firefighting units doused the flames and were trying to clear the smoke created by the fire around the time of the filing of the report at 12:00noon.
A three-member team led by Assistant Director (AD) Hamid of Barishal Fire Service and Civil Defence was formed to investigate into the matter, DAD Shikdar said.
