Essay contest launched in honour of Abul Mansur Ahmad
An essay competition is going to be launched in honour of renowned journalist, politician and litterateur Abul Mansur Ahmad.
Abul Mansur Ahmad Smriti Parishad will launch the contest for the second time.
The essay contest will have three competitions based on three separate topics. The topics are as follows:
(a) Depiction of religious bigotry and social classes in the literary writing of Abul Mansur Ahmad
(b) Role of journalism and modernism, and the creation of a progressive mindset in the context of Abul Mansur Ahmad’s journalism career
(c) Abul Mansur Ahmad’s thoughts on state and today’s Bangladesh
The contest is open for anyone aged between 20 and 35 years. The essay will have a word limit of 2,500, has to be in Bangla and must be based on original research. The author must submit a declaration that the essay is original and has not been published before.
The submission deadline for the essay contest on August 17, 2019.
The submitted file should be in MS Word format and composed with “SutonnyMJ” font. However, if anyone wants to send a handwritten hard copy, it should be sent by post to the mailing address as mentioned.
A jury of eminent writers will select the winners. The best submissions will be awarded Tk 10,000, a certificate and a crest for the first prize, Tk 5,000, a certificate and a crest for the second prize, and a set of books of Abul Mansur Ahmad, a certificate and a crest for the third prize for each section.
After the final selection, the prizes will be awarded in September this year to mark the birth anniversary of the renowned author.
It may be mentioned that a book has been published with the winning essays including comments by the judges from last year’s essay contest. The book is available at the same address as mentioned.
