Minor girl raped in Laxmipur, 1 held

A minor girl has been raped by her neighbour at Panchpara in Chandraganj upazila, police said.

The incident took place on Thursday afternoon when Belal Hossain, a neighbour of the victim, took the girl to his room after alluring her of giving chocolates and violated the girl, said Abul Kalam Azad, officer-in-charge of Chandraganj Police Station.

Hearing scream of the victim, local people rescued the girl and took her to Sadar Hospital while Belal went into hiding, the OC said.

Police later detained Belal from the area, he added.
