Jamaat calls hartal for Thursday
Jamaat-e-Islami has called a countrywide dawn-to-dusk hartal (shutdown) for tomorrow protesting The Supreme Court’s rejection of party secretary general Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mojaheed’s plea to review its ruling upholding his death penalty for war crimes.
The shutdown will be enforced from 6:00am tomorrow, said a press release signed by Jamaat acting Ameer Makbul Ahmed.
In the release, the Jamaat leader said there is no specific allegation and witnesses against Mojaheed. “In spite of all these, Mojaheed has been sentenced to death in the false case,” he added.
