A clinical Bangladesh team won the tri-nation ODI series in Ireland, their first major series, sans Shakib Al Hasan by registering a scintillating five-wicket win over West Indies by Duckworth Lewis method at The Village ground in Malahide, Dublin yesterday.

Chasing a revised target of 210 runs in 24 overs, Soumya Sarkar provided a blistering start, scoring a 41-ball 66-run knock which featured nine fours and three sixes while player-of-the-match Mosaddek Hossain smashed an unbeaten 24-ball 54 to help the Tigers reach their target with seven balls to spare.

At one point it seemed as though rain would bring an end to the final, in which case Bangladesh would still have won the title by finishing on top of the points table. However, the five-hour wait to win the tournament on the field is surely much more satisfying for Masharfe Bin Mortaza and his troops.

Earlier, resumption West Indies finished on 152 for one in 24 overs with player-of-the-series Shai Hope top scoring for the side with 74 while his opening partner Sunil Ambris was not out on 69.

This was a series where a collective approach from both the senior and junior members of the Bangladesh squad simply clicked throughout the series.
