Fakhrul’s participation in JS was crucial for oppositions: Quader
Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader today said BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir’s participation in the parliament was absolutely essential to serve the purpose of the opposition parties in the House strongly.
“Fakhrul’s participation in the parliament was a must as he could give strong message from the opposition in the parliament,” Quader said.
Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister who joined office yesterday after more than two months of his treatment in Singapore, was talking to journalists at the bridge division in Dhaka’s Mohakhali.
Talking about the six BNP and two Gono Forum leaders, who joined at the parliament recently, Quader said: “Other opposition lawmakers would raise their voices in the parliament and try to be vocal, but I think, based on his gravity, Fakhrul could serve the purpose appropriately.”
Despite securing victory from Bogura-6 parliamentary constituency, Fakhrul did not take oath as the parliament member.
Hailing BNP for joining the House, Quader said good sense has prevailed upon the party at last and they have become able to sense the pressure of the voters.
“I told earlier that BNP, at last, will go to parliament and they will have to go,” Quader said.
Saying that the strong voice from the opposition is indeed a good gesture for the government, Quader said from now on, they can raise their voices both in and outside of the parliament to realise their demands.
Awami League is well prepared to face BNP politically if it wants to take to the streets, Quader told a questioner.
